This international research project with the english title "Vulnerability to global change and sustainable adaptation of ski tourism - SkiSustain" was scientifically led by the German Sport University Cologne, Institute for Outdoor Sports and Environmental Science, together with the University of Zurich, Department of Geography. SkiSustain was financed and supported by the Foundation Safety in Skiing (SIS) and the German Ski Federation (DSV), Board of Environment and Snow Sports Development (DSV-Umweltbeirat).
The project started in the year 2005, the main empirical research was carried out in the winter 2006/2007, and finished as a dissertation in 2008. Written and oral publications of the concepts and the results started in 2008 and will be further carried out in 2009 and longer.
This website www.skisutain.com is meant to communicate the goals, methods and results of this research in order to make it accessible to a greater public. The whole study is published in this dissertation:
